Ivonne Tulela Lipenda
My tattoos are a representation of who I am, and a way of honouring those who I hold dear to me. As I’ve grown older I’ve realised that religion has not allowed me to live liberally without being judged. My dad passed away when I was really young so my mother has been my everything through it all. The tattoo on the inside of my right ankle shows my dad’s initials W.L (Wilson Lipenda). The books represent my passion for reading. These books then turn into flying doves which symbolises my dad’s passing. In a way I am telling my story through body ink.
