I am a 29 year old Namibian fashion designer with a background in tourism management, geography and visual arts.  My collections are a result of passion and experience.  My `Safari Line’ is inspired by the culture and history of the Aawambo kingdoms of northern Namibia.  The garments are created with the Odelela material that Aawambo people use as traditional wear.  The motive behind this is to promote Aawambo culture and history by creating beautiful garments and making them available to both local and international markets. I believe these garments make an excellent souvenir for any visitor to Namibia.

The 'Safari Line' makes use of the colour palette found in Odelela prints and combines it with the typical colour and fabrics found in `safari’ clothing. The clothes are resilient, but stylish.

The 'Safari Line' is unique and can make great corporate gifts and souvenirs. My work represents Namibia and the Aawambo people. This line of safari wear made in authentic Namibian fabrics is a way of presenting ourselves and an opportunity to own a real Namibian product, since most safari clothes are from South Africa. 

“I love creating and this made me look at the gap we have in the tourism industry for clothing.” On display are a range of shoes, safari bags and even a safari dress, which Matheus says is a must in every woman's wardrobe. She says the exhibition has been a long time coming, and opted to do this instead of a fashion show to tell her story.
